Poppy & Rushnyk Pysanka — a real Ukrainian goose egg, hand-painted in the traditional wax-batik technique. Red poppy blossoms and small berry-like flowers with green leaves crown the top of the egg, while a narrow "rushnyk" (woven-towel) stripe runs vertically down the side, set against an intricate red, gold, and white diamond-lattice band with small flower-rosette accents.
The rushnyk stripe is one of the classic named motifs in Ukrainian pysanka art, taking its name and pattern from the traditional woven ceremonial towel, while the poppy is a long-standing folk symbol of remembrance and family memory.
As each egg is painted entirely by hand, the exact placement of every line and petal may vary slightly from the photos — this is part of what makes every pysanka one of a kind.
