Cobalt Rose & Rushnyk Pysanka — a real Ukrainian goose egg, hand-painted in the traditional wax-batik technique, set on a rare cobalt-blue background. Pink five-petaled roses with green leaves are scattered across the shell, topped with a white crown panel lined in golden scrollwork. A narrow rushnyk-style band runs down from the top, made up of a red-and-white checkered square and a black-and-white diamond grid, alongside a second slim decorative strip of striped and dotted segments. The rest of the egg is covered in a fine golden diagonal lattice, filled with solid red diamonds and white diamonds carrying a red-and-white star cross.
The cobalt-blue background is an uncommon choice in pysanka art, giving this egg a fresh look while staying true to traditional motifs, and the rushnyk band recalls the embroidered ceremonial towels used to bring blessing into Ukrainian homes.
As each egg is painted entirely by hand, the exact placement of every line may vary slightly from the photos — this is part of what makes every pysanka one of a kind.
