Sunflower & Rushnyk Pysanka — a real Ukrainian goose egg, hand-painted in the traditional wax-batik technique. A large golden sunflower sits at the crown, its long petals framing a red-and-white crosshatched center, with green leaves on either side and red dots scattered across the dark wine-red background. Just below, a narrow rushnyk-style band runs down the egg, lined with fine white stitching and flanked by golden spiral scrolls. A wide white checkered divider separates the top from the body, which is covered in a dense lattice of white star-squares, golden-yellow crosshatching, and red diamonds with green leaf-drop accents.
The sunflower carries the same ancient solar symbolism found throughout pysanka art, while the rushnyk band recalls the embroidered ceremonial towels used to bring blessing into Ukrainian homes.
As each egg is painted entirely by hand, the exact placement of every line may vary slightly from the photos — this is part of what makes every pysanka one of a kind.
