Poppy & Spiral Ribbon Pysanka — a real Ukrainian goose egg, hand-painted in the traditional wax-batik technique. Garlands of bright red poppies with white-dotted centers, golden wheat sprigs, and green leaves spread across the dark wine-red shell on either side of a wide white central ribbon. The ribbon, edged in red, is filled with golden spiral scrollwork running from the crown of the egg down to its base.
Poppies are a folk symbol of remembrance and family memory, while the spiral scrollwork is one of the oldest pysanka motifs, representing life force and continuity.
As each egg is painted entirely by hand, the exact placement of every line may vary slightly from the photos — this is part of what makes every pysanka one of a kind.
