| My maternal grandfather's parents immigrated to the United States of America, where I now live, from the Ukraine. Although I never met them, in some small, abstract way I always felt connected to that part of my heritage, as it is the most significant portion (25%) of my genetic make up, if you will. I ordered a smoking pipe for my brother, some table linens for my mother, and a wooden jewelry box for my sister as Christmas gifts this year, and they all loved it! | My mom's parents were from the Ukraine and Czechoslovakia. I remember my ba-ba making pysanky eggs. I helped her remove the yolks. She made beautiful eggs with pearls. Now that I am 40 and have a son I remember my ba-ba, and my mom. I purchase Vyshyvanka gifts for my aunt and special friends.
